  BATTERY PACK

According to the Minelab Explorer User Manual the Alkaline battery pack (AA pack) lasts 14 hours. The NiMH pack last 11 hours. This is just approximate and the battery life will be much shorter if the back light is used. The Explorer NiMH pack is a non memory type rechargeable battery. In other words, you do not need to run the battery completely down or discharge the pack before you recharge. The Minelab provided home and auto charger take approximately 16 hours to fully charge a totally drawn down battery. Be advised that the "S" model does not come with the NiMH battery or chargers standard BUT the "XS" model does. Sun Ray Electronics has come out with an adapter to use with there SR12 Super Charger to safely charge the NiMH pack. It only takes 4.5 hours to totally charge the battery using the Sun Ray charger.
