Instructions.

This template folder includes Dreamweaver templates (.dwt files, located in the Templates folder) and sample pages created from the templates (.htm files, located at the top level of the sample template folder).
The sample template folder also includes image files that appear on the templates (.gif or .jpg files, located in the Images folder) and blank source images (.gif and .jpg files) without the text for you to modify in your graphics program.

Use this template to create a new site or add sample template files to an existing site. Or create new pages from the Dreamweaver templates (the .dwt files), modify sample pages (.htm files) with your own content, or reformat existing HTML pages in a site by applying a template to them.

Adding Pages.

It's easy to create new pages and add them to your web site. Just go to File -> New From Template and choose the Main.dwt template file.

Changing the DHTML Menu.

You'll need to open the Main.dwt template, and go into HTML view in Dreamweaver to make the changes necessary to get the look you want
The lines that need changing are probably in a burgundy colour and begin with the word "mymenu2"
Before each of these lines there is a comment explaining what changes can be made - here are some examples:
Locate mymenu2.maintableprops("#333333",1,1,0) - changing "#333333" to "#FFFFFF" will change the border around the top main headings from grey to white. "1,1,0" needn't be changed.
Locate mymenu2.maincellprops("left","#333333","#333333") - changing "#333333" to "#FFFFFF" will change the background colour of the main headings from grey to white. "left" needn't be changed.
Locate mymenu2.subcellprops("left","#ffcc66","#ffcc66") - this is where you can change the background colour of the drop down cells - here it's set to black.

Locate

mymenu2.addMenu("instructions2","<b>&nbsp;INSTRUCTIONS</b>")
mymenu2.addMenu("frontpage2","<b>&nbsp;FRONTPAGE</b>")
mymenu2.addMenu("dreamweaver2","<b>&nbsp;DREAMWEAVER</b>")
mymenu2.addMenu("design2","<b>&nbsp;DESIGN</b>")

This is where you define the names that appear on the main menu for simplicity sake it's a good idea to use the same names ie. instructions2 is the name of the group that drops down from the title INSTRUCTIONS. We've put 4 headings but you can add more in the same format or less by deleting the lines

That's the first bit done - you can play around with colours until you get the effect you want.
The second part is pretty simple - scroll right down the page and locate mymenu2.addSubMenu("instructions2", " MODIFICATIONS", "modifications.html")
There are three parts here - Group name that you defined above "instructions2" - the wording you want to appear on the drop down - "MODIFICATIONS" - and the link "modifications.html" - you can also link to another site by using a full URL - for example "http://www.dreamweaversites.com/". Work through all the links you want to add and make sure you keep previewing in a browser to check that everything is going to plan.
That's about it - it's really not as daunting as it may seem. It's a good chance to get your hands dirty with some coding practice!
