Adapter Most of you will find that you will want to use your own headphones instead of the ones supplied with the Explorer from Minelab. There is one problem, the headphone jack is 1/8" on the detector and most of your headphones that you are use to detecting with have 1/4" plugs. The Radio Shack 1/8" to 1/4 " adapter will NOT work straight out of the package. The shoulder on the adapter is to big and will not clear the battery cover in order to plug in all the way. Some people have decided to file the shoulder down quite a bit in order to get it to fit. Some have been successful and some have not. I personally do not recommend this. There are a few possible remedies for this. One thing that can be done is to contact the manufacturer of your headphones and ask them if they can change your current 1/4" plug to an 1/8" plug that will fit correctly. I have heard that one of the manufactures of high quality headphones will do this for you for a nominal fee but I have not verified it yet
