i had the same message ,all I did was log into exchange without connecting the CTX and it shows an update ,so update as it tells you to then when thats all done restart and connect the CTX and then a firmware update shows up so update that as per instructions ,easy peasy

How do you get exchange without running a pc? You cant...

What's great about the new features (Seawater mode and Pinpoint lock), is they are extras that can be switched on or off, giving users the option of using them if required. If they are worth while for your detecting needs, use them.... if not, leave them switch off. I rarely detect in the sea, so probably won't use the seawater option... but the pinpoint lock is good enough for me to use every day.

All of the other smaller changes will assist anyone who has noticed any anomalies occurring in these areas.

Minelab has made a significant investment in the CTX 3030 software upgradability feature and this is just an example of the potential of future upgrades.

So keep the feedback coming, on new features wanted, on MLO. You never know what might eventuate in the future!

hi gordan,a few people on here have mentioned how good it would be if in combined mode you could change the sound of each unit/fe-co value,for example being able to assign a tone to your tadpole pattern,do you know how viable this is in an upgrade??

The ability now to download the updated x-change 2 software has been fixed and you can now download updated program from scratch.


What is the best route for asking for upgraded to firmware, I have send several emails to finbarr and he has forwarded them to Austrialia but wondering if there is a better way to flag problems and requests ?

Im trying to update the software on my CTX, but ive forgot my password. When I click forgot password it sends a reset link to my email, the link will not work, it is all text any idea, I emailed Minelab but as yet no reply. The new upgrade looks very interesting.

I didn't have to log in to update my software.
I just connected USB to the CTX. Turned it on and then ran the Exchange2 software. It then informed me that an update was available.
Looking forward to using the pinpoint lock.

Not a problem - Load and Go, disconnect from PC, and the CTX updates itself.
Locking pinpoint is nice.

Updated the Xchange 2 without any problem (I am using a Windows machine)

Connected my CTX via the USB, switched it on but got the following message:

"ERROR - The firmware on the CTX is out of date. Please perform an update on it and try again"

Now what?

I suppose that my only choice is to update the firmware in my CTX. Apart from not being sure how to do that, I'm concerned that I will be loosing all the non-factory programmes that I installed

I failed to upgrade my CTX using the exchange software, so I transfered the saved updated firmware and sent it to the Minelab drive on my computer, then disconected the USB lead and the upgrade worked. I still have a problem/issue with the password for the exchange software, sent minelab a email a couple of days ago relating to this issue as yet no reply (not impressed).

Close that pop up window then click on the exclamation mark at the top of the Exchange software page.

Gave up with exchange on the mac to do the update, download file from minelab, plugged in the CTX and drag and drop straight to CTX job done
