    Gold Panning

    Hi All
Here is some gold I found over the years prospecting in Switserland.
    The biggest is 10.6 grams.
The 2 small nuggets in the bottle on the right are from the mosel area in Germany.
    Kind regards
    Gerrit

    Nice!
Panning is now banned in North Wales, thanks to an idiot who despite being told time and time again, kept digging the banks of the river and altering the watercourse.

So i am having to think of new areas to venture to and do some sampling!

    Nice job Gerrit!

Nice gold! I have been prospecting in the desert around Yuma, Arizona for the last five years and have about the same amount of gold. I use a dry washer because there is no water. We are now starting to use the detectors instead of shovels and pickaxes because the shoulders and back are starting to hurt to bad. Will be leaving in a few minutes to give the X-Terra 705 a good workout. Thanks for the post as it was fun to see what gold is like in other parts of the world.

nice yellows! I guess they are cleaned - what were they like when you pulled them out_
Why Waste time using an ordinary detector when you have the option to use a GPX5000

    Gold Panning

    Hi All
    Better picture.
Most came from the upper rhein region in a altitude from 1000 to 2500 meter
panning, sluising and a lot off sniping on bedrock.
Dit some dredging in another swiss area with only flour gold no nuggets.
Biggest nugget found was 123,1 gram, not by me.
All the nuggets came out as they look on the picture.
    Regards
    Gerrit

Good stuff Krokdundee - that name has a bit of a ring to it.

All of those nuggets would be picked up by a detector provided the smaller ones were not real deep.

My wife loves panning and she found a bit a few weeks ago. We are planning a bit of an expedition to that spot later this year. She'll be panning, I'll be detecting, should be fun.

Arizona or western Australia is stil in my mind, have a good frind in quartzsite who is a pro sinds electronic prospecting starded, meaby next year.
Last years I take the gold the easy way by waterhunting half off europe, go's a lot easyer than digging for gold.
Hope everybody find a lot off the yellow stuf.

Just watched Billy Conelley panning for gold on the box, they were using high powered hoses, wash away the banks.

There is a goldmine in Dolaucothi South Wales, The vein strikes in a North East direction transversing Dolgellau.

Heres a good tip for you, the chemical letters for gold are AU, look for Welsh place names with AU in them

I.e. DolAUcothi, DolgellAU ClogAU etc etc, always worked for me

It was a tip an old Welsh pro told me, he said it may be coincidence but its a funny one, (and whenever we panned local rivers, we found colour)

Shame about the outright ban here is Wales, got all of my sluicing gear and nowhere to go.......

    Hi Argonaute/all
No analyses done, the moment off finding it dose it all.
Some info on the swiss gold you can find here http://www.goldwaschen.ch/egold_occ.htm and a small movie about the area
I know every rock by name.

Good Morning Garrit, It is a small world. I am located for the winter just 83 miles south of Quartzsite and spend time there. I might even know your friend. I also found the Daily Post articles interesting. In the corner of the article was an advertisement for Cabela's. I live in the summer just 120 miles from the original Cabela's store and knew the Cabela family when they had just a bait and tackle shop in the corner of their furniture store. California just shut down all dredging because some fool felt it disturbed the gravel for spawning when dredging has been proven to help for gravel beds for spawning. The good news is that I picked up my first small gold nugget with my X-Terra 705 yesterday. Can't wait to get out again. Have a great day.

    Hi ddcarr
Good luck to you in the nice Arizona winter.
My mate from quartzsite wrote some books about nuggethunting, one cald
advanced nugget hunting, he visites my house every year to do some detecting for roman and celtic artefacts.
Dredging is a good thing to create good spawning areas, butt a couple off guy's with tunnel vision dont see the hole thing, I know what you mean.
Hoop you strike the big one.
    Regards
    Gerrit
