Here's one that you probably heard some old git tell you at the local club ... And thought , silly old git !!! LooOOL :P Me too - Simply the aluminum kitchen foil & spit technique ... wet the coin well with saliva ... yuck !!! then place into a small piece of foil & enclose it - like a coin sandwich ... firmly rub with thumb & finger evenly on both surfaces .... The coin should start to heat up !! & smell of rotten eggs if its silver !!! 8O After 30 seconds or so its time to have a look. Wipe well with soft tissue, then add some sunflower cooking oil to the coin ... now rub very gently between finger & thumb - looking all the time to make sure raised points do not get over clean, now wipe clean the coin again with soft tissue - Job done !!!
Have look at this example:

Have a go and see what you think
ADDITIONAL* If you are concerned that any loss of orriginal patina would loose value to your coin, then Ultrasonic Cleaning maybe a good way to go ... there is minimal abrasion here - But only 2 secound burst & check visually ...
