    Re: coiltek

I was also considering this or a Nel which seemed to be frowned upon for patents? My issue with the standard coil is in trashy areas differentiating between rubbish and perhaps something good. Occasionally when I crack it, it's been worth it but more often not. It would be great to get a better insight before digging. Might be just practice and patience but would be interested in other views as well. Sorry I'm probably no help to you but hope others will chip in.

    Re: coiltek

From what I know about NEL coils is that they do not have any chip or such inside the coil so they didn't copy anything. That is only what I have been told by NEL. More than that I do not know.

    Re: coiltek

Thanks Iron Mask. Having read many snippets from "Digger" which is very helpful, it would seem a 6" Minelab coil would be better for my needs (TID's in trashy areas). "As such, Minelab’s 6-inch Double-D coil is still my ‘go to’ coil for coin hunting those trashy areas." from Coiltek 15-inch ALL TERRAIN coil Would this be the medium (7.5) or high (18.75) version? Any help would be appreciated. The coiltek still looks very attractive for larger areas? Tyro why are you considering the Coiltek?

    Re: coiltek

Don't understand the language but if the jist is the variation in tones with multipple objects (coins) won't it give any detector a problem and is'nt it better to get multiple tones to identify there may be several objects? I have found with the 705 if multiple coins are found it will give several tones (say a £1 coin and a 2p) on top of each other. You just have to have a hunch from experiance and dig it up. As the particular area I was having problems with is trashy I went for a second hand 6" medium coil (£60.00). It has helped marginally to seperate tones and slightly better at tids but it's for this purpose. If I was in a ploughed field with little trash (as on Sunday) better with a bigger coil (10"m). I know the coiltek would cover more area and probably better depth but all I have apoken to have said it makes a difference when swinging all day due to the weight and the benefits are marginal. But as ever that elusive find might be in that marginal. I will stick with my 10" for clean areas and 6" for trashy for the time being. Have you read the articles by digger on the minelab site. Very useful and good reading.

    Re: coiltek

I have tried to replicate the Russian video.... I've tried every coin variation possible, and the only way this happens is if you introduce a iron clad coin to the stack. It then detects the strongest magnetic target (edge on).... regardless of the coil being standard, Coiltek or NEL (I tried all three).

The stack of coins were then tried on a Goldbug, Rutus, E-Trac.... all three discriminated the stack, only the E-Trac gave any indication that it could be a digger.

So lets all hope we don't pass our coil over a stack of Gold staters with a clad 2p coin in amongst them

    Hi all,

Our coil will certainly give more depth in general and offer the larger coverage however you do need to work with what suits your situation. I swap coils depending where I hunt, mostly parks for recent coins. I can can certainly recommend the 15" all terrain not only because it is my brand but also because I use it and enjoy what it provides when I have it attached. I also use the 9" med frq... I have not experienced what the video shows.

I can also add that the XTERRA coils all need PCBs in them to communicate information to the control box.

I hope this helps and success is frequent!
