    X-terra settings

The settings that i use when out detecting are,
    7.5 khz DD 10" coil.
    All Metal.
    2 Tones.
Sensitivity as high as i can get away with, without the machine going irratic.
    Volume to max.
    Threshold to number 10.

I then auto ground balance and noise cancel..

Whilst searching,i listen for any low/high tones. The high tones are easy to tell over the low blatts of the iron.
Where i do get a high/low tone.I then watch the meter. If the numbers are jumping from anywhere above 2 to below -2,i'll then dig these targets..I have tried this system on a couple of outtings and discovered buttons and coins ..These are always deep..The targets must be so deep, that the tone I/D has trouble locking onto them ,hence the mixed tone.I have also found this with the 10" 18.75 DD coil as well..
I now always dig these signals..

The other mode that i've been using is the Prospecting mode..This is another mode that i like..If you have trouble pinpointing with the standard pinpoint mode, you should try the PM.This is very sensitive and can lock onto the target with ease..
With the P.M mode,i listen for only the clean 2 way tone.Anything broken is mostly iron..I also check the target then in pattern 1 or all metal..I again listen to the response and if there is a high tone,or even a few scratchy high tones, then i also dig these targets..
I did find a very small piece of silver paper whist doing this, and it was quite deep.
I would have missed this target whilst in any of the other modes ,as the response was so weak..It could have been a hammered etc..
I hope my report will be of some use to other users of this machine..
    It's a great machine..

Thanks for the tips Trigger. I have the 705 and pretty much go along with your settings. To be honest though, I've never tried the pinpoint thing as I have always managed to find my target with the basic settings and a probe. Cheers again for taking the time to set out your settings.
