The difference in the "Fast" and Deep" setting

This tip was sent to my by Allen who emailed someone at Minelab to ask about the difference with the "fast" and "deep" settings. Here is his reply.

YES, it is possible for both to be on same time, although the effects are some what contradictory. They act on two filters, let's call them filter 1 and filter 2. These filters smooth the disc signals but at different points. Here is what the buttons do; When FAST is not selected (default state) filter 1 is on. When DEEP is not selected (default state) filter 2 is off. When you select FAST you turn off filter 1 so the detector responds more quickly and can separate targets close together. When you select DEEP you turn on filter 2 ONLY WHEN THE SIGNAL IS WEAK so the detector responds better to weak signals. DEEP requires a slower sweep speed
